Apple Pickin’ Season

Riley’s Apple picking farm is rather a drive but once there, the little ones will love to  play in the wood structures, pick apples, make cider with an old fashioned press, and just roam around.

An apple picker makes it easier to reach the ones up high.

The most delicious pickings were actually not the apples themselves but the raspberries. The Local Rose likes to pride itself on it’s accuracy and honesty, and so I must admit the apples were not really as delicious as they looked. I fear the farm is not as organic as they say, and the soil must be stripped of it’s nutrients for the apples were generally wooden. This disappointed me, however between the raspberries and ‘old world’ quality of the farm we still had a good time. I am now on the look out for another apple picking farm that is organic and delicious! Unlike our last picking expedition to the incredible cherry farm, we did not gorge ourselves on apples on the two hour ride home.
Yes I tried to convert my youngest to Amish ways. . . Studies say the Amish are the happiest demographic because they have community. They sell these bonnets at the general store in Oak Glen. Hmmm will the Amish take us in??
