Some of My Favorite Things. . . .
For the start of the holiday season
We went through some traumatic daze here in California but now, here at least in Pacific Palisades, we are on the other side. Having moments of extremes, being near catastrophic events at least make you wake up from your daily slumber. I for one am beginning each day with a sense of deep gratitude for having a home, health, and sustenance. The basics.
My dear friends started a charity to give back to the victims of the fires. If you’re interested take a look at One Love Malibu.
So this time of year is one of my favorite times. I love Sound of Music, Christmas decorations, pies, stockings, snow, ice skating rinks and cozy evenings at home cooking meals for loved ones.
Here is a list of my favorite Tis’ The Season items.
– Doen Dresses. This red one is perfect for Holiday parties.
– Making fires (with respect and reverence for fire so when it’s really cold) using old firewood from the garden and using orange peels and cinnamon cloves to scent the fire.
– The Donabe pots to cook in. I’ve been so into making porridges and ginger, garlic forbidden rice bowls with my Donabe. These are Japanese clay posts that manage the heat and are seasoned so the dishes taste extra delicious.
– This is a useful cookbook with lovely recipes.
– My friend Mafalda Pinto who is an amazing chef just came out with some daily inspirational cards. I like to pull one up with a morning cup. More with Mafalda coming soon.

Gifts, indeed, are a blessing. Like your website, TheLocalRose:) I love Christmas, the carols, the scents of pine, the falling snow, the Divine Nativity, the time of Peace, the ending & beginning of a year.
This are great tips to share. One of the best blogs.
