Décolleté Care
Protecting Skin Against Sun Damage and Aging
I grew up watching Italian and French films and the quality of those European stars still inspire me today. One thing the European women do that some of us miss here in the West is take care of the area between their neck and breasts. The beautiful Décolleté area otherwise knows as the upper chest and cleavage, is just as vulnerable to the signs of sun damage and aging. In fact it is often overlooked and needs more care since it lacks reparative glands. I for one, just realized that my summer of fun swimming in the seas and hiking in the mountains has created some spots to appear in that gentle area. Yes our faces may look smooth and clear, but the décolleté is just as vital to keeping the beauty consistent. Here are some non-toxic ways in which to protect and enhance the lovely feminine décolleté.
For more all-natural beauty regimens see The Local Rose.
1) Always cleanse the décolleté area along with your face. Follow up with a moisturizer or a serum like the Rose Face Oil. The Rose Face serum has really nourishing oils like sea buckthorn and rose hip which help diminish age spots.
2) Use sunblock especially when wearing low cut clothing. I use the brand by Suntegrity Skincare – since it is toxic free and powerful!
3) Witch Hazel. This area is much to delicate for peels (not that I use any chemical peels) but you can make a natural peel using witch hazel. Witch hazel will adjust the PH balance and overtime brightens the skin. I love the brand by Humphrey’s Witch Hazel Cleansing PadsThe packaging is oh so romantic and pretty, and the pads make this really accessible for cleaning the area. These are also great for travel. Witch Hazel has been used by Native Americans for centuries for it’s natural astringent properties.
4) Apple Cider Vinegar. By simple brushing on some apple cider vinegar you can help diminish sun spots and varicose veins. ACV has natural powerful alpha hydroxy acids which remove dead skin cells. With consistent use you will notice results. I don’t rinse it off, but you can after 20 minutes. I like to cleanse the area, brush on some cider, then after it dries add the Rose Face Serum.
5) For a stronger natural peel, puree some fresh pineapple and coat the area with the fruit for 20 minutes. The strong lactic acid will take away sun spots and damage. After the 20 minutes place some organic yogurt and honey to soothe the area for another 20 minutes.
