Peacock Apothecary
Locally Harvested Beauty and Skincare
I feel so blessed that I get to sample non-toxic beauty products for all of you roses. I have become quite particular since starting my own line this year, so I can really take in a special product line. The lovely ladies at Peacock Apothecary are doing something right! Their body scrub made with sugar, coconut oil and lavender oil is incredibly inviorating and soothing. My favorite product of these fine feathered souls is the night cream. The scent is absolutely divine with a mix of ylang ylang and rose. They use violet glass jars which keep their preservative free products safe from UV rays. Samantha Field and Caitlyn Montgomery hand make their products using all locally harvested materials right here in Los Angeles. The natural beauties share an incredible DIY face mask to lighten dark pigmentation spots on the face. I know this is something I am battling with after fun days under the sun. Look below for the recipe.

This serum is great for fighting wrinkles, brightening the skin and decreasing damage caused by the sun.
Ingredients:
Distilled Water
Aloe Vera
Camu Camu Powder (you can purchase Camu Camu powder from Whole Foods or other natural markets)
A small glass bottle with a dropper
Small mixing bowl (preferably glass) and a teaspoon
A quick note about Camu Camu – we prefer to use this superfood because it has such a high concentration of Vitamin C and it’s completely natural. You can also opt to use L-Ascorbic acid which you can find in powder form. We prefer the texture of Camu Camu powder because it blends to a smoother consistency.
This recipe abides by the 1:1:1 ratio. You can translate the amounts below to any size as long as you keep each ingredient at equal ratios to one another.
Step 1:
Mix 1 teaspoon Camu Camu powder with 1 teaspoon distilled water. Make sure to really mix well to remove any and all clumps.
Step 2:
Mix in 1 teaspoon of Aloe Vera and stir until you have a well combined mixture.
Step 3:
For an extra little touch, we add a few drops of sweet orange essential oil (this step is not necessary but an added bonus). Pour mixture into your bottle and voila, you have your very own, homemade Vitamin C Serum.
To use, pump a dime sized amount into your palm and apply all over your face and decollete after washing and toning. After, apply your evening moisturizer. Please be sure to apply a good sunscreen before going outside because the Vitamin C can make your skin more sensitive to the sun’s rays. Also note that this batch should be made once a week to make sure the ingredients stay active so make a small batch each time.
Just made this! It’s a bit gritty but my skin is glowing. Love.
Thank you all so much for the recipe!
