A Favorite ~ Non-Toxic Nail Polish Remover

nontoxic nail polish remover

If something is flammable there is a good chance it is toxic. Acetone is flammable and yet many nail salons are pouring it over our nails to remove polish. Acetone, dibutyl phthalate, and ethyl acetate all evaporate into the air we breathe and also contaminate our water and kill marine life. Our skin absorbs everything so these on our nail beds are a cause for concern. For convenience sake, I frequent a salon near my house that isn’t green or natural, however I now take my own products so at least the creams, polishes and removers are not so harmful. More to come on natural polishes . . .

I have been using Organic Lavender Remover lately and it works perfectly. It is derived from soybean oil which I would prefer to avoid, however I haven’t come across another non-toxic alternative that actually works. If you roses out there have any suggestions please do comment!
