Celine Taste, Zara Budget

January 11, 2013 | 3 Comments

January has proved to be a busy month with award season events and birthday parties (guess I know lots of Capricorns!). Looking fashionable in a town where people have stylists or  big budgets can be a challenge and that’s why Zara can be a life saver. I like to wear mostly (eco-glamorous) vintage, but I still want to stay modern and chic so mixing it with new pieces usually helps. This week I had a dinner for Christian Dior Beauty that my lovely friends host every year. I decided to pair a vintage velvet top with rhinestones with my new favorite velvet harem pants from Zara. The black pumps may look like Christian Louboutin but they are also Zara.

The following night I was invited to a Vogue magazine fashion show for Alberta Ferretti which was beautiful. The clothes were made with true craftsmanship and the vibe was a late sixties feeling with a classy modern take. I was able to borrow a sample dress in winter white from Ferretti and I paired it with last season’s Zara tuxedo jacket and boots.

hi shiva – effortlessly lovely as always!

i am wondering if you know fashioning change – http://fashioningchange.com/brands/alternatives-to-zara

they are a forward-thinking socially responsible startup that conducts audits of several of the ‘fast fashion’ players on a variety of criterion – design, material, sustainability, social responsibility, transparency on country of origin as well as ethics.

Inventory certainly has a ways to go, but they offer up a decent selection of eco/sustainable/ethical alternatives that can be purchased through their site.

My favorite section of the site is the ‘wear this, not that feature’. The 1-to-1 style-savvy and eco/socially responsible alternatives they put forth, are still managed to be priced so well, and generally well under their fast fashion counterpart.

THEY also RECENT LINKED TO A GREENPEACE REPORT which presents findings, in detail – including Zara, of the amount of amines and phthalates used in their production.

given the content of the local rose, i thought you might want to be aware of this.

Miss Coco has a true artist’s eye. : ) Also, hope you always think of your blog as a service! You could have chosen to share your thoughts and energy with far fewer people. It’s a source of inspiration and knowledge, and a relaxing mental vacation, too.
