Radiant Yoga

May 26, 2012 | 0 Comments

Many years ago I was on the yoga train. I practiced pre natal yoga with my first pregnancy over sixteen years ago, and then discovered Kundalini Yoga with the master Gurmukh at Golden Bridge. After having some inflammation from an auto-immune condition I gave up yoga and sort of distanced myself from what was becoming the trendy, commercialized version of yoga. Recently on my path to healing my heart,  i have rediscovered again the wonders of the Kundalini form which really speaks to all aspects of our being. There are two teachers I’ve been working with that have shown me the light of healing through yoga. This week we meet with Kia Miller who has created an amalgamation of the various forms of yoga to create Radiant Body Yoga. Next week we will meet with magical Guru Jagat who practices strictly the Kundalini Form.

Below is a mini interview with beautiful  Kia.

1) how many years have you been practicing?

I have been practicing since I was 15!  I found yoga in a Raquel Welch book!
I then started ashtanga in London.

2) why do you like about the kundalini approach?

I love how transformational the Kundalini approach is.  Through the practice
you are offered glimpses of your infinite/higher self.  I have found it to
really help me to shift through a lot of my negative tendencies and place me
in my heart.

3) Are you a forest fairy or a mermaid?

I am a bit of both. Neptune is conjunct my Sun, making me a water baby, but
still I relate big time to the magic of fairies!

4)Do you believe diet impacts consciousness?

Diet definitely impacts conscoiusness.  We are what we eat.  Where does the
food you eat end and you begin?  Our body is our temple. Keep it healthy and
it will serve us well.  For most of us it requires a complete shift in the
way we approach food.  We can be so fixated on the fleeting nature of taste
and particularly addicted to sugar and salt. As we refine our diet we change
our taste buds and our body starts to tell us what it wants to eat rather
than us imposing on our body a certain diet

5) Are you hopeful for the state of our planet?

I am very hopeful.  There is a new wave of consciousness being experienced.
Our job as yogis is to prepare our bodies and minds to work with this
consciousness, this higher vibration. A daily sadhana (personal Practice)
helps to strengthen our body and mind so we can integrate this change and
higher consciousness into our daily lives and live as examples for those
around us.  I strongly believe we will get through this time of war and
negative politics and arrive at a place where we are taking care of the
earth and each other, where LOVE is the drug of choice and our children are
growing up in a spirit of co-operation and peace

6) what is your drink of choice?

Very fine Oolong tea is my morning drink, then water… Nothing beats a good
pure well water when you can get it!

7) What book is on your nightstand?

Since I am not at home as I write this, I will share what I have in my bag:
“The Inner Art of Love” by Guru Rattana

8) Do you have a beauty regime?

Regular sweating (as in a strong yoga practice, hiking or jogging), lots of
live food, plenty of water and a good face cream in the morning is the
extent of my beauty regime.
