Rose Hibiscus Summer Tea

July 11, 2018 | 1 Comment

A summer tonic or cooling tea for the hot months ahead, the Rose Hibiscus tea is a refreshing drink to carry with you through out your day. I drink it at times when I feel the need for extra chi and the red flowers feel like life itself.

The Rose Hibiscus tea is a goddess elixir. It is said that it’s the tea the goddesses Lakshmi and Paravati drink for prosperity. In addition to lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, hibiscus tea is known to help reduce the risk of cancer, lower inflammation, support a healthy digestive system and act as an anti-bacterial with high levels of antioxidants. It satiates thirst and can be helpful during menses. The dried hibiscus and rose petals make a beautiful, crimson color tea that is wonderfully fragrant and perfect for entertaining during the summer months.

Ingredients

Dried Hibiscus

Dried Roses

Honey or simple syrup

Grated ginger or cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

Simply brew 3 tablespoons of dried hibiscus in a large mason jar with a tablespoon of dried roses. I like the dried roses from Ron Tea Garden since I know they haven’t been treated with pesticides.

Let the tea sit for 20 to 30 minutes.

Strain it and add 2 tablespoons of honey or a teaspoon of simple syrup. You can then place it in the refrigerator for ice tea or drink it warm. Sometimes I add grated ginger or cinnamon for a variation.
