EyeWalker Elements Oils made by a Mountain Moon Fairy
If I lived hundreds of years ago I am certain I would have been considered a witch and perhaps burned at the stake. That could explain the kinship I feel for modern day fairies and white witches who continue the legacy. I first discovered Taylor Eyewalker’s oils at my new favorite store in Venice on Rose ave. called The Golden State Store. The lovely owner Stephanie Addis only had to say two words to me before I knew I had to meet Taylor: “Topanga and Moon”. Taylor lives in the mountains of Topanga, (ironically a few doors down the mountain from my father) and activates the energy of her scented oils by charging them under the various phases of the moon. My visit with her did not disappoint. As Mel Blanchard (my wonderful photographer) and I climbed the stairs on a rainy, misty, day up to a mountain hideaway we were greeted by Taylor and invited into her magic laboratory. Here is a mini interview and a webisode is to come later this month.
1) What inspires you? I am inspired by every human’s ability to touch the truest nature of their being, create their biggest dreams and build something out of nothing. We are ALL the most amazing artists because we have the opportunity to author our own story, paint our very own picture and be the architect for our carefully crafted lives. The gift we have been given is awe-inspiring.
2) What is your favorite scent? This is a tough one, because I love all different kinds of scents for different times. I will say though, my main go-to comfort smells are vetiver, palo santo, white rose and patchouli.
3) You mentioned that you went to a Witch Camp. Can you tell us why you think it is important for
us to reclaim that part of ourselves?
For my particular practice, having a place to go and gather with other like-minded practitioners creates a very powerful funnel of energy. There we explore the magic of intention, join in ritual and transform our lives in a very profound way through this collective experience. Reclaiming our radical self responsibility for crafting our own life experience is vital for optimal living. Tuning in with the elements around us supports us in honoring the elements within. Honoring the Goddess archetypes support us in growing and understanding our own human experience. There is something extremely potent in the intention, care, energy and focus that goes into “spell-crafting.” Some people call it the power of intention or manifestation. We can call it anything we would like, it’s all the same really, we just have different methods of doing it. Regardless of your chosen practice, may it be neo-pagan or zen buddhism, the power of focus is deeply transformative, profound and is gifting me daily when I really apply it!
4) What is your beauty secret? Clean living in order of appearance 😉 BREATH, happiness, exercise, healthy food, deep restful sleep and a little concoction I made with emu oil, rose, lavender, ylang ylang, blue lotus and helichrysum.
5) What is your dream vacation? I LOVE romance, so I’m going to say a romantic getaway somewhere tropical, sans tourist attraction, where all I need is my bathing suit, a sarong and a white dress. During the days we read, lie on the beach and swim in the ocean, hike in the jungles and nature walk to explore the local plant kingdom. At night we have the opportunity to participate in the local’s indigenous ceremonies or eat dinner by candlelight and make love with the sweet smell of the ocean breeze and night blooming jasmine. I’m already excited!
6) Are you a forest fairy or mermaid? definitely forest fairy
7) what or where is your favorite meal? I’m a simple gal, take me to Cafe Gratitude! (a vegan restaurant based in giving all dishes affirming names such as, “I am opulent,” where everyone seems happy to be alive and the food is made with pure love!)! Some delicious creative gastronomy is also thoroughly enjoyed on a special occasion.
8) Do you have a favorite store? I have to say, I really like shopping online. Bonadrag usually has all my stylistic desires without stepping foot outside of my office! The melrose flea market has some epic vintage finds. If you were to catch me shopping out in public I’d probably be perusing The Golden State, Opening Ceremony, House of Intuition and The Green Man.
9) How much do you think the moon influences us? I would say, quite a bit AND as much as our focus allows it. I choose to be empowered and supported by the energies of the moon. The moon embodies the energies of our emotions and of water. We change, fluctuate, shift, transform just like the moon. We have the power to heal through our emotions and create a visceral experience simply by feeling it with our bodies. We remember experiences that happen in our lives because of the emotions that we have attached to those experiences. So as the moon changes from sign to sign, waxes and wanes, we have the ability to absorb that energy and feel bright and brimming with creativity or like an empty vessel waiting to be filled. What’s beautiful is that with the symbolism of the moon we have the ability to manifest and release things every month. When we are in synergy with nature around us, we are truly empowered by our experience on this planet.
10) Where do you see yourself in 20 years? I’ll have a beautiful family, a glorious garden and a platform of sharing a wide message about the power of healing and embodying the divine feminine through plants, beauty, connecting with our earth, honoring all realms of existence and much more than I can imagine at this moment. We’re experiencing a huge shift in the awakening on this planet. I for one am so excited about how the human condition is evolving and my dream is to help facilitate at least one person, every day, to feel more love, vibrancy, happiness and beauty within their body. I want my learning and studying to be ever-evolving and no matter my age I am the student and the teacher, embodying integrity, compassion and radical acceptance.
Beautifully done !!
Absolutely beautiful!!! <3
I loved this interview as I work with moon power as well. It makes sense to me to attune ourselves to her beat and rhythm.
For some reason Alice Hoffman’s book The Dovekeepers kept coming to me when I read this interview. Shiva, you would be perfectly cast as the beautiful wise woman in that novel. (Shirah)
I loved Stephanie’s response to question 1 on what inspires her as well. Magical.
Josephine that is my favorite book this year The Dovekeepers. I have been thinking of posting about it. Thank you so much for the compliment. You made my day! ♥
